Privacy Policy
We built Recalen to help you capture and recall your own thoughts—not to sell your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
This policy is provided for transparency and convenience. It does not create contractual obligations beyond what is stated in our Terms of Service, and it is not legal advice. You remain responsible for the content you choose to store in Recalen.

Overview
We collect only what we need to run Recalen, improve reliability, and keep accounts secure. We do not sell your personal information.
Your saved entries are meant for you. We design the product so your content is tied to your account and access-controlled.
What we collect
Account information: such as email and profile details provided through our authentication provider (Clerk) when you sign up or sign in.
Content you save: messages, attachments metadata, folders, and related settings you create in the app.
Technical data: device/browser type, IP address, and diagnostic logs used for security, abuse prevention, and reliability (for example error reporting via Sentry when enabled).
Landing demo: text typed in the public demo composer stays in your browser only and is not sent to our servers.
How we use information
To provide and maintain the service, including syncing your content across sessions and devices you use while signed in.
To secure accounts, detect abuse, and respond to support requests.
To improve Recalen using aggregated or de-identified analytics where possible.
Retention
We retain account and content data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service.
When you delete your account—or if your account is removed from our authentication provider—Recalen deletes your account data from our active systems and object storage as part of the deletion process. Deletion is carried out by an automated purge job and may take a short time to complete; it does not require you to be able to sign in.
Accounts inactive for 12 months may be deleted, including their stored content and attachments, subject to prior notice where we are able to reach you. Signing in before the scheduled date cancels the deletion.
A limited amount of de-identified record-keeping (for example, that an account was deleted) may be retained for security and operational integrity, without your content.
Residual copies may persist in routine, time-limited infrastructure backups after deletion and are aged out on our providers' normal backup rotation; we do not use backups to restore deleted accounts. We do not separately control our database provider's backup retention windows.
Your choices
You can access and manage much of your data inside the app. For account deletion or data requests, contact support@recalen.com.
You may opt out of non-essential communications where offered.
Security
We use industry-standard practices such as encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; see our Security page for more detail.
Children
Recalen is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page.
